Interior design for a luxury home in Oeiras
This interior architecture and interior design project, developed by the Margarida Bugarim Interiores studio, brings to life an elegant, spacious contemporary home located in the municipality of Oeiras. Spanning two floors, this home stands out for its sophisticated architectural style, minimalist lines, and the way each space was designed to reflect a modern, comfortable, and deeply personalized lifestyle.
Margarida Bugarim studio was responsible for the interior architecture and interior design of the entire home, creating distinct, sophisticated spaces that complement one another. The result is a contemporary design full of personality, where fine materials, bold color accents, and designer pieces coexist in perfect harmony.
The exterior architecture of this house in Oeiras features a distinctive and very contemporary design. The various black volumes, the striking presence of the sculptural chimney, and the spacious terrace on the upper floor lend character and grandeur to the façade.
One of the home’s most striking features is the fully glazed front of the living room, which establishes a direct connection between the interior and the pool area. This architectural solution allows for an abundance of natural light, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and highlighting the home’s entire social area.
In the outdoor area, the travertine stone flooring introduces an elegant and timeless aesthetic, extending to the pool’s coping as well. The choice of this material contributes to creating a sophisticated and serene atmosphere, in perfect harmony with the home’s contemporary architecture.
In the TV area, the highlight is the minimalist and elegant design of the walls. The fireplace is clad in black slatted wood, complemented by a low TV stand made of the same material, creating visual continuity and sophistication.
The contemporary block-style sofa in gray adds comfort and modernity to the space. Decorative cushions in shades of orange, green, and blue and white stripes introduce dynamism and personality, breaking up the neutrality of the color palette.
The dark blue paneled side wall features a contemporary painting in the same tones, enhancing the visual depth and artistic character of the room.
In the center of the room, a more relaxed seating area was created, featuring four armchairs arranged around a playful circular rug with orange, blue, and green stripes. This element serves as a true focal point of the room, adding movement, whimsy, and originality to the space.
An elegant bar area was designed under the stairs, with the back wall covered in blue-and-white diagonal striped wallpaper. The same wallpaper was applied to the stairwell wall, creating visual continuity and reinforcing the aesthetic identity of the entire social area.
The dining room reflects the same contemporary and sophisticated style found throughout the home.
The stone dining table serves as the centerpiece of the space, combining sturdiness and elegance. Surrounding it, the designer chairs, fully upholstered in orange velvet, add comfort and a bold, sophisticated pop of color.
Above the table, an elegant pendant light with suspended spheres adds lightness and sophistication to the atmosphere. On the back wall, a large abstract painting in shades of green—selected by the studio’s art curation department—brings artistic depth and chromatic balance to the space.
Connected to the dining room via a wide, open passageway, the kitchen was custom-designed by the studio to combine functionality, aesthetics, and a welcoming atmosphere.
The blue-lacquered cabinets create a sophisticated and contemporary ambiance, harmoniously contrasting with the beige stone used on the central island, countertops, and backsplash. The island also features a practical quick-meal area, ideal for the family’s daily routine.
One of the most original elements of this interior design project is the kitchen ceiling’s finish, which uses the same blue-and-white diagonal striped wallpaper found in the bar and staircase areas. This choice creates visual continuity between the different spaces in the social area and adds an unexpected and creative element to the space.
The light oak flooring runs throughout the living room and kitchen, reinforcing the sense of unity and contributing to a warm and bright atmosphere.
Every detail of this contemporary home in Oeiras has been carefully designed with functionality in mind.
Two separate pantries have been incorporated at either end of the kitchen. One was designed as a traditional pantry for food and everyday storage. The second pantry was specifically designed to store tableware and dishes, reflecting one of the homeowner’s great passions.
This customization of the spaces demonstrates the importance of creating interiors that respond not only to practical needs but also to the clients’ lifestyle and interests.
The outdoor area of this contemporary home was designed as a natural extension of the interior architecture and interior design.
Next to the pool, an elegant sunbathing area was created, ideal for moments of rest and leisure. In addition, a comfortable outdoor seating area was designed, featuring a wooden-framed sofa and rope-and-wood armchairs.
The choice of natural materials reinforces the connection between the home and the surrounding landscape, creating welcoming, sophisticated, and timeless outdoor spaces.
There is also an outdoor dining area equipped with a mosaic-topped table and dining chairs in the same style as the armchairs in the living area, ensuring aesthetic consistency across all outdoor spaces.
This interior architecture and interior design project in Oeiras reflects the creative versatility of the Margarida Bugarim Interiores studio. Despite its minimalist and contemporary style, each space was carefully designed to convey personality, comfort, and originality.
The combination of clean lines, fine materials, bold color accents, and exclusive design pieces has created a sophisticated yet warm and lived-in home.
More than just following trends, this project demonstrates how contemporary interior architecture can create unique, functional, and deeply personalized spaces.
